Iran Denies Links to Mahdi Army

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said in Tehran today that Iran “regrets” statements by Iraq’s National Security Advisor Mowaffak Al-Rubaie. In a recent interview with the London-based daily Asharq Al-Awsat, Al-Rubaie had accused Iran of backing the Mahdi Army in Iraq.
