On Thursday, Iranian Air Force will stage a flyover of Tehran by 140 fighter jets and 60 helicopters. The flyover is to celebrate 17 April, Iran’s Military Day.
The Iranian Army will also show its latest homemade weapon systems during a major parade in Tehran on that day.
The announcement was made today in Tehran by Maj. Gen. Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, the deputy commander of Iranian armed forces.

Nader, thanks for the heads up. I'll be looking for news clips on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteMark, if you be kind enough and share the images or URL addresses with us. Also, it would be absolutely great if you get a chance and write a few lines on Iran’s military development. You can post it here or best please email me for posting on the main body of the blog. Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nader. I'll do that.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I've read that the flyover will take place on April 29 (?)

Thanks. The flyover is on Thursday, 17 April (which corresponds to 29 Farvardin in Iranian calendar, hence the confusion probably).
ReplyDeleteConfirmed, April 17th. Looking forward to it.
ReplyDelete140 obsolete planes....
ReplyDeleteThe newest plane of any of these is 20 years old, the Mig-29A and Su-24. Everything else is over 30 years old.
Sad state of affairs. The equivalent in 1978 would have been if Iran was parading P-51 Mustang propeller fighters and Korean war era F-86's.
