The latest report by Petroleum Intelligence Weekly (PIW) ranks the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) as the second largest oil company in the world. PIW’s ranking is not based on annual revenues of each company, but rather it uses as criteria oil reserves and production, natural gas reserves and output, refinery capacity, and revenues. Under this system, Saudi Arabia’s Aramco ranks first in the world, with Exxon Mobile ranking third.
