Iran’s opposition leaders met in Tehran today amid speculations of a showdown between Green movement supporters and the government forces on the 11 February anniversary of the revolution. Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi invited their supporters to demonstrate in massive numbers on that day, marking the 31st anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Republic.

The two leaders said Thursday's hanging of two dissidents was an attempt to keep people away from the February 11 demonstration.

"It seems that such a move is to scare people so they do not take part in the demonstration of 22nd of Bahman (February 11)," Mousavi and Karrubi said.

Senior IRGC and police officers have recently warned that they would not allow the Greens to stage protests on 11 February.

"We will by no means allow anything known as the 'green movement' to make an appearance" on the anniversary, IRGC Brig. Gen. Hossein Hamedani said.

  1. This is not true, I am a green movement supporter and there is no such request at all.
Those sending these demo calls are homepages from outside of the country.
    I know I wont go.

  2. What is not true, the meeting between Karrubi and Mousavi? Their condemnation of the recent political execution of the two young activists? Or their call to protest on 11 February? Please be specific, if you have any information contradicting the above. We'll be more than happy to publish your post as well.

I did not start the conversation, you did in response to my post. hence my invitation to continue the conversation. but totally understood if you do not want to do that. But please do not make statements like"there is no such requests at all." you make the assertion, you need to explain.

  6. The elite Revolutionary Guards accused the foreign media of joining hands with the opposition to harm the Islamic state. The British ambassador to Tehran was summoned by the Iranian government to be accused of "interference" in state matters.

  7. As long as they dont burn buildings and cars then they can say whatever they want.
Opposition should do as they are supposed to do, its us their supporters that have to learn NOT to exaggerate with our demos.
    Then all will be fine.
In a couple of years we are going to have a solid 2 or more party system.
Unless Silly west attacks Iran and makes sure the military takes over and freezes political and social developments untill after war.
