Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has nullified a recent ruling by High Council for Education that would have transferred the control of Azad ("Free") University of Iran, the country’s largest, to the government. The move is a major victory for Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani, the founding chairman of the university’s board of trustees, and a defeat for Ahmadinejad’s attempt to take over the university.

Well, well, well...
This appears to be an unexpected monkey wrench in many a Iran analyst's recent perspective on the Islamic Republic, such as those espoused by Reza Aslan, Muhammad Sahimi and Karim Sadjapour.
But not too worry, they're dure to come up with some form of excuse or other.
I agree. The exiled "Iranian experts" and their western cheerleaders are totally oblivious to the reality in Iran. There is a lot of deliberate misinformation, psy-ops, wishful thinking and sheer ignorance about the pluralistic dynamics of Iranian internal politics.
re: the "analysist" These Iranian experts are completely clueless about Iranian laws and culture. In all seriousness, the average Iranian educated person (living in Iran) can provide more insightful commentary. These analysts just get on the air and tell american audiences what they want to hear for money (which I guess isn't dumb on their part really!).
On this decision, it's very interesting as I wonder if Ahmadinejad will dare take on Khamenei!
