Funeral Services in Tehran for the Nuclear Scientist

The body of Dr. Majid Shahriari, the nuclear scientist killed on Monday’s terrorist attacks in Tehran, was carried in a huge procession today from the Shahid Beheshti University campus, where he was a professor of nuclear physics, to Tehran’s Imamzadeh Saleh cemetery.

The director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi, led high-level government and academic delegations in today’s services.

Shahriari was a top scientist and senior manager in Iran’s nuclear projects. He was reportedly killed when an explosive charge placed in his car was detonated by remote control when he and his wife climbed into the vehicle. His wife was injured. Another nuclear scientist, Dr. Fereidoun Abbasi, was also targeted and injured in a similar attack in another part of the city on the same day. Abbasi’s wife was also with him at the time and was injured as well. It was earlier reported that assailants on motorcycles attached magnetized bombs to their cars.

The Israeli Mossad is accused to be behind the assassination. The Mossad has carried out similar operations on foreign soil over the decades.

Shahriari’s assassination is believed to be a major blow to Iran’s nuclear program. He had not only brought the know-how but operational expertise to the program that would be tough to replace.

  4. Don't do so surprised, The Israelis are a bunch of assassins and they do what they do best.
They kill and terrorize, and blame others of being like them.
Make movies declaring themselves invincible and etc. etc. etc.

If Iran does not retaliate, then they are not going to be taken seriously anymore.

  5. Anon 3:43 AM,

Dr. Abbasi and his wife thankfully escaped with minor injuries.

I do not know the extent of the injury on Dr. Shahriari's wife. But we must all keep her on our minds, loosing a husband in front of her eyes and getting injured, that must be so painful. May she have patience to deal with this tragedy that changed her life in a matter of seconds. And may the terrorists be apprehended and brought to justice.

  6. Years ago, Iran put a project not to transfer knowledge, gain the experience and transfer the scientific expertise which is available in the world. No! His Eminence Imam Khamenai evoked a clear title: producing science. That means that the Iranians - the Iranian scientists, university professors, university students and Iranian youths - have to produce science. So they do not have to imitate and clone but rather to produce science. Many people in the developing world are very proud of Iran's achievements in the field of not only science but also in the field of health care and education.

  8. RIP. It is high time to pay the Zionist criminals in kind. They are far more vulnerable than Iran.
