Gen. Rostam Qasemi, Iran’s newly appointed Oil Minister, said today in Tehran that the country’s oil and gas sector immediately needs at least $40 billion in new investment in maintenance and development projects.
"Considering the extensive oil and natural gas fields, their development needs heavy investment; therefore, the task can be accomplished by securing the capital from domestic as well as foreign sources. Definitely a part of the needed resources will be secured from the country's general budget, but for the remaining part we will explore domestic sources that include the private sector and the banking system," Qasemi said [IRNA, 9 August].
Qasemi added that Iran would be issuing a "great volume of various bonds" this year to help finance the projects.

ReplyDeletethe london burn
I am waiting for an Analye tehran 2009 versus london 2011.
at least police taktik can be analysed and compared.
Finally somebody with balls !
ReplyDeleteThe oil industry is in a shocking state of disrepair its really sad to see this prime industrial complex of Iran left neglectfully so long by a incompetent management and an incongruous governance.Regarding the great volume of various bonds it really concerns me because the value of the bonds is meaningless if the value of our very poor currency is bottom of the monetary global list. However I wish Qasabi all that is due to him and much more than that.
ReplyDeleteWe should stop spending money on space projects and nuclear weapons and put it into Oil & Gas.
ReplyDeleteWhat good will having nuclear bombs do for us? 20 minutes after we send one to Israel our population will be wiped out.
How much money are we sending to our staes of Hezbollah and Syria???
Why do we need to spend money on7,000 political guides in the Basij and more than 5,000 in the IRGC??? Will we no longer be able to vote with direction from our minds & hearts?
I vote for investing much more into oil and gas assets!
Anon 5:25 AM.Easy police tactics in England = truncheon and plastic shield.
ReplyDeleteIran = Shooting protesters by snipers,Running over them with a police 4x4 and claim it as road accident, stab them and then capture them and torture them the list can go on and on.
It will indeed be interesting to see if Iran actually does issue "great volume of various bonds" and to see how well they sell and who buys them.
ReplyDeleteInvesting in the infrastructure of the single important product that Iran exports seems like a pretty good idea.
As well, funding projects that will allow Iran to stop being in the ludicrous position of having to import refined oil products seems lika good idea.
Maybe funding projects so that Iran develop some other income from exporting finished goods rather than merely pumping oil and sending out fruits and nuts would also be wise.
The hidden Imam will watch over the bonds, the Oil ministry, and make them successful !!
ReplyDeleteThe bonds wont be worth the paper its written on they cant be trusted period.
ReplyDeleteOur oil industry was the pride of our nation it ranked in the top five oil companies in the world. Then Hendi zadeh said that "economy is for donkeys" so he hired donkeys to do his bidding and the result you can see today China whom their people had bicycle and had no oil industry to speak of now owns Iranian side Caspian sea oil rights and drive around in latest cars while our people drive in bashed up old cars or cars which where made in the 1980s sold as the latest Iranian made design how sad is that.Poor Iran what have we done to deserve these neanderthals??
ReplyDeleteAN Oil engineer will make several times in Turkey or UAE. They actively recruit Iranian engineers. Most want to stay in Iran and do good for their own, but with ll the politics, and corruption where they cannot use their talent and expertise they are left with no choice but to leave.
ReplyDeleteCorrect the engineers should run the oil industry why they given it to a illiterate man?
ReplyDeleteGeneral budget I didnt know we had a budget left.I thought they said we have $20 billion left?? What is going on I just dont trust them.I wish they all go to hell.
ReplyDeleteThe countries a ruin and the gangster is talking about the Banking system.I just left Tehran 2 weeks ago believe me the currency was exchanged for even less dollars than the day before.
ReplyDelete"What good will having nuclear bombs do for us?" - Absolutely nothing, except defending the whole country...
ReplyDelete"We should stop spending money on space projects"- Space projects are cost some 10 million $ while the oil sector needs tens of billions to run.
