UN Votes on Iran Human Rights Abuses

UN General Assembly today condemned the human rights abuses in Iran. 86 countries voted in favor of the annual resolution, proposed by Canada, with 32 against and 59 abstained. The resolution comes three days after the General Assembly condemned an alleged plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Washington.

I didn't know they had human rights in Iran let alone to abuse it.

as if all this matters.

War is coming and Iran better not waste its time on such childish setups.

War over its resources.

The true disparity in numbers between those who voted against Iran (86), and the combined total of those countries that did not vote against Iran (91). puts the overall result in Iran's favor.

"The UN General Assembly on Friday demanded that Iran cooperate with an investigation into an alleged plot to assassinate the Saudi envoy to Washington, widening the diplomatic divide between Tehran and its Western rivals.
The Iranian and US ambassadors to the United Nations linked a resolution overwhelmingly passed by the 193-member General Assembly to tensions over Iran's nuclear drive.
The Saudi resolution on the plot was passed with 106 votes in favor, nine against and 40 abstentions."

how's the math on that one?

does 106-9 say something to you about 'result in Iran's favor.'

none of the news is good fro the regime. it's past time for the theocrats to be flushed and for Iran's citizens to erect a government that helps them to live their lives in friendship with the world and not in scorn and shame.

Anon: How does 106 + 40 + 9 = 193?

The problem with these resolutions is that they're politically motivated and have nothing to do with real human rights issues.

Do people really believe politicians in the West really care about the average Iranian guy on the street? Hell, they do far worse things in other countries they invade than Iran can ever do in 100 years.

These resolutions only hurt the victims and doesn't resolve anything. It won't change Iran's behaviour both at home or outside in any way, shape or form. Effectively an exercise in futility.

I believe this's all part of a concerted effort to demonize Iran. From used car salesman assassination plot to sexed-up IAEA report to non-existent banking sanctions and now this.

The sad part of this is that, people are actually seeing through this PR BS and know where it's geared towards - war. Someone in the West wants war with Iran to make their elections prospects look good and they'll do anything to make it happen.

Meanwhile, just give it two week and it'll be as though this never happened. The biggest mistake people make is when they see politician, anywhere in the world, as angels and really care for them. Behind the scenes, the Western governments still have relations with Iran. Don't be fooled. They feed of each other.
