Iran's First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi today threatened the West with closing the Strait of Hormuz, effectively stopping the flow of oil in the Persian Gulf, if sanctions are imposed on its oil exports.
“If they (the West) impose sanctions on Iran's oil exports, then even one drop of oil cannot flow from the Strait of Hormuz," Rahimi said [IRNA, 27 December].
Most of the crude exported from Saudi Arabia, Iran, the UAE, Kuwait and Iraq - together with nearly all the liquefied natural gas from Qatar - must pass through the 34-mile wide (with 2-mile wide shipping lanes) Strait of Hormuz, the shipping channel between Oman and Iran.

If there're any wise people in Washington/Pentagon, they should pull the breaks NOW before calamity befalls the whole world..History will not look kindly at US instigation starting WW3 on some flimsy excuse.
ReplyDeleteAnd there's no guarantee they'll win either.
Well there's that. Expect war next year and expect it to end, hopefully, quickly. The question is how much it will cost both sides.
ReplyDeleteThat's odd that such an important statement would come from Rahimi, the person who was found to be holding a fake Oxford degree and who is ridiculed in Iran.
ReplyDeleteThere are two possibilities, that Khamenei and Ahmadinejad gave him persmission to say this - which seems highly unlikely - or that he spoke without authority to do so - which seems very likely.
It will be interesting to see how Ahmadinejad, Khamenei and Larijani respond to this. They are in a hard spot. On the one hand if they chide him publically it will make it seem like Iran is completely withdrawing the threat in fear. On the other hand, if they allow him to speak out of turn in this manner it will make them look bad.
Sadly Rahimi's comment is a common trait among Iranians - they like to run their mouths before thinking.
To all Anons, and Fellow posters
ReplyDeleteTheir is a feasable scenario that we're not paying attention to.
The Iranian Republic can possibly pull this off. Please pray for Peace! And (Happy New Year to All)
I Know that I often disagree with the Pro Westerners who comment on this blogg, but Gentlemen believe me, when I say I harbor no ill will towards you and that I wish you all and your families much prosperity during this new Year. With Special regards to Mr. Nader Uskowi and his family.
Thank you all!
I guarantee, that with in the first
thirty days of the war the US fifth fleet will be sustantially demolished. US will try to destroy
IRIN Navy (C4I). But IRIN Navy, due to their new high tech capabilities will manage to shut down and jam US (C4I). Same as hezbollah did to Israeli warship.
IRIN, are counting on US to underestimate it's capabilities, as Israel did with Hezbollah. All Amatuer arm chair General/Admiral
Anons. Should know that, unlike previous battles, this battle will be fought from the Sea. Not shore side.
IRIN will use, fast attack boats, with long range radar, qadir
missiles and attack helicopters.
IRIN, Frigates and Subs will not immediately engage, US fifth fleet. IRIN SUBS and Frigates will conduct dual operations,Hunter killer stealth ops and Surveillance. US Will conduct counter hunter killer ops. Although the US has the advantage with Subs, destroyers and Carriers.
You must know, that each navy can moniter it's adversaries (C4I). This gives the IRIN an unusual advantage, than most so call Mid east Navies. With the exception of the Israeli's the IRIN Navy are the only one's with this
capability. This gives them the ability to evade, avoid, and strike at will, with the element of suprise. The IRIN, does not have to engage every ship or sub of fifth and 6th fleet, all they have to do is attack the center of gravity of the US Navy.
this can easily be accomplished by jamming and attacking it's (c4I), Nerve center bases, and sinking at least three carriers along with a few destroyers and Subs. which is feasable. If one Carrier battle group were destroyed within a two week engagement, this would send the US Navy into a Panic. keep in mind that the straight of Hormuz is blocked off, and tankers of oil are being blown into the sea. Western nations economies would begin to starve and complain.
the US would be pressured by the Iternational Community of Nations, for an Immediate cease fire and negotiations. This would force the hand of the US to come to the table and Negotiate!, if not. US Nato Alliance, would begin to whither away, upon news of US ships and Carriers being sunk in the Persian Gulf, this would embolden the Muslim world. to send help and supplies and Mujahideen. As that famous song goes (send guns lawyers and money!). Mean while The IRIN and the US are still slugging it out in the Persian Gulf. IRIN forces have been hit hard, but too it's surprise the USN fifth fleet has been decimated. 7 weeks into the battle the US is growing desparate and chooses to go nuclear, but quickly changes it's mind. Because Russia has annonced that it will enter the battle if the US chooses to nuke a Black Sea Nation that is so close to their Borders. The United states is forced to negotiate and lift all sanctions immediately against IRAN. And Iran simply wins because it held out and stood upto the last Super Power on
earth. And The Pride of the great Persian Peple will be restored.

I find your comment ignorant, if not borderline racist. You can say what you want about Rahimi, but don't tar us all with the same brush. Not all Iranians have the so-called "common trait" that Rahimi has.

ReplyDeleteYou have a very vivid imagination.
Why don't you put it into better use instead of the nonsense that you just wrote above.
Happy New Year.
It not going to happen. The US navy won't allow it because they will blast the IRGC glass fiber navy clean out of the water. You guys stop dreaming the Persian gulf will remain open and Saudi will still be able to export its oil.
ReplyDeleteOnce again.. All talk.
ReplyDeleteAnon 5:39 PM~~~
ReplyDeleteyour statement is ludicrous, the first Iranian ship or boat that fires on the USN insures the destruction of every surface craft in the Iranian navy in a matter of a day or two....
you haven't a ghost of an idea of the power of the US navy and air force.
Iran can close the Straits but can't keep them closed and Iran won't be facing the US Fifth Fleet. it will be facing more than three times that power from the US....and the US won't be alone.
and once it starts, there is nobody in the world that's going to tell the US to stop fighting
Keep on barking............!

ReplyDeleteI really hope you're right..But unfortunately you're wrong - without any factual backing. What you've written here is just wishful thinking lacking in any clear analysis.
The US has conducted/simulated several war games against Iran and for scenarios like trying to open up the strait and everytime they end up with their ships and carrier groups under the water or badly damaged.I don't think the Pentagon thinks Iran's navy as just a bunch of "fiber navy".
And who says Iran's navy will even confront the US navy in open waters in case of war? A few well placed missiles is good enough to do the job of sinking/massively damaging a ship/carrier.Iran can do this and has the capability to do it as well.As a matter of fact, Iran doesn't even need to attack.Just announcing the closure of the strait is enough to send oil prices sky rocketing.I hope you snap out of your dreams.
Iran's navy may suffer some severe blows but I don't think the US navy's fleets in Bahrain or elsewhere in the region will escape unharmed.Expect massive bombardment of their naval bases as well. And believe me, the people in those places don't want US navy stationed in their country except for their corrupt kings and princes who're out of touch with reality.
What people even fail to realize is the political ramifications for the PGCC Sheiks. How will their people react to them aiding a US attack on another Muslim country. How will they react to massive Iranian attacks on their oil/gas installations for their helping the US launch attacks from their soil?
I think it's fair to say any US attack on Iran will stimulate the further disintegration//collapse on Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and other PGCC dictators. This is no fun games. I hope the chicken hawks up here on this blog realize this.

ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you too.
You forgot to mention the 12:th imam of yours on a white horse leading the IRGC army and navy !
Those 'dogs' still keep 'barking' on........!
ReplyDeleteTo stop that 'barking', one has to stop those 'dogs', right away.
mat~~~ It's fools and little monkeys such as yourself calling other people dogs that is going to bring about the destruction by military means of the theocracy.
ReplyDeleteother fools are saying that Iran can damage the ships of the US Fifth Fleet. perhaps Iran can damage those ships.
what then?
the US has many more fleets and many, many airplanes and ICBMs that will blow up every military installation, every power plant and, if the US chooses, every sizable factory in Iran....in a matter of days.
you may talk proudly now, but a war with the US would be a disaster for Iran...except in that it will abruptly bring about the end of the present Iranian government..
that's the only good thing for Iran that will come of the war.
so many the monkeys should chatter a little less, quietly groom each other a little more.

"Iran can close the Straits but can't keep them closed and Iran won't be facing the US Fifth Fleet. it will be facing more than three times that power from the US....and the US won't be alone".
Thats, what the Iraeli's thought too. until hezbollah jammed their integrated defense systems and sanked their corvete missile boat.
I know the U.S. won't be alone, because theyre such big fraidy cats, they'll have all of Nato with them. But be advised that the U.S. Has'nt faced a threat of this magnitude since world war-2. Since the vietnam Era,They have'nt had to use the full weight of their Naval Power and Airforce. All the combined air power...Conus Bombers etc. Will not matter, when its being shot down and attacked. You see today, Missile technology does all the work all the Iranians have to do is fire and forget. This time US/Nato aren't the only ones that have that capability. This changes the game They actually risk a chance at literaly be blown out of the water. The Brits and the french are cowards! Remember what the brits did in 2007?. They surrendered. And they will do the same this time around. they won't have the Turks to count on this time. And Once they're illiminated, from the equation. The U.S. will be dog meat. Combined Airpower is only effective when it's allowed to flow freely. Not when it's very platforms are targeted. And blowned to smitherines. The U.S.and Nato's, Warfare doctrine
concept, is to dump the weight of the Allied forces, combined airpower on the enemy. This can not happen if that weight is impeded or countered. You see, it's the analogy of having legs on a table. No matter how many legs you have on the table, all you have to do, is break one. to disturb the weight and the center of gravity. Say good bye to Zio/ Western Imperialism gentlemen!
What you people fail to realize

It's no good explaining to doormat.
Like any other doormat we know where they belong outside the front door.

ReplyDeleteThe distance between Tehran and Moscow is approximately. 1,531.46 miles. If the U.S. drops a nuclear bomb on Tehran, nuclear fall out will travel so fast, it will Destroy, parts of Armenia, Turkey,
Georgia and russia, and the Caspian Sea will be uninhabitable for years!. Now prove to me how big of an idiot, moron. You are by saying that the Russians won't Respond!. Why right now as we speak, The Rusian Meditaranian Fleet is in the port of Tarsus!
You people are absolute Brazen Idiots! You don't think before you
speak. Youre Talking world war three and the U.S. won't risk Washington, Newyork, Sacramento,
Sanfrancisco, and Los angeles being blown to smitherines!.1,531.46 is the distance from Washington D.C.- to Texas. I warn you this is to close to Russian Territory!

ReplyDeleteAre you REALLY that stupid to belief that nonsense? The US will be dog meat?
against a military without a navy or an air force? with weaponry that is a fraction of the US's and 40 years out-of-date?
Iraq fell in weeks and the US used less than half of its capability. Iran can do no better, except the Ayatollah probably won't hide in a hole in the ground before he's put on trial.
Do yourself a favor and be very careful not to wish for things that you might not much like.

Iraq fell, after it was weakened by two wars and a starving population. due to sanctions,By Sqeamish Cowards, better known as U.S./Nato. That is how the USA, fights and that is the only way it can win!. But this time those coward ploys have simply run out. And you're the gullible one, for supporting such coward acts. The USN, is not invincible as you will soon learn. The Strategy of starving millions of women,
children, and oldmen. Will not work this time. Mr troll slave. Furthermore, before it was all over the USA, lost the ground war in Iraq, and paid bribes to Arab war Chiefs, for protection and safe passage of it's troops. SO THEY COULD LEAVE IRAQ!, free from the hot persuit of the Iraqi
resistance.
Boy! now, thats what I call a super power!
