Recent reports by the media, including Friday’s Los
Angeles Times, suggest the broad outlines of a nuclear deal between Iran and
the West to be negotiated during the upcoming Baghdad talks on 23 May. The West
will accept uranium enrichment by Iran up to 5 percent purity and Iran would
accept unrestricted inspections of its nuclear sites and strict oversight of
its nuclear program by IAEA, commonly known as the additional protocol. The
sanctions against Iran will begin to be lifted if Iran accepts the compromise and
stars its implementation.
Meanwhile, Iran announced today that it will resume talks with
the the IAEA on 13-14 May. Iran's ambassador to IAEA Ali
Asghar Soltanieh told the IRNA Tehran's decision "shows the
peaceful nature of all of its nuclear activities, while showing that claims
against Iran are baseless."

Wow, it appears Iran's compromise offers of the past might actually be accepted this time around. But then, we won't know until it actually happens.

I think its otherways around what compromises are concerened.
This regime up the stakes regarding this issue and with these sanctions in place it wants to preserve itself by backing down and presenting it as a victory.
But the main issue will be human rights and freedom from a Islamic fascist theocracy and this will be the force that will wipe out the theocracy, despite the west that secretly supports it.
The IRi could have done this years ago without puting the people through hardship. This reminds me of the years Khomeini refused to accept an end to the Iraq Iran war, insisting on the unacheivable condition of toppling sadam Hussein first.
In both cases a heavy price was paid by the people for their government's intransigence.
From the point of the view of the west, the sanctions will only be lifted if "choopane dorooghgoo" proves his not lying again, first.
Its not a regime like the Saudi or the ex egyptian or the Ex Shah one.
Its a republic.
I don't understand. Will the talks be in Austria or Baghdad?
@ 12:24 PM:
Two different rounds of talks. The talks in Vienna, Austria on 13-14 May is between Iran and the IAEA (UN’s nuclear watchdog agency). These talks are the latest between the two sides on how to implement the UN/IAEA resolutions. The last time the IAEA inspectors visited Iran, they were not allowed to inspect a military base where IAEA suspects some military dimension of the nuclear program (i.e. testing of nuclear triggers) is/was taking place.
The Baghdad talks, taking place on 23 May, are between Iran and the six major powers (UN Security Council permanent members plus Germany, hence P5+1). The purpose of these talks are to come to a final agreement between the two sides on Iran’s nuclear program. The P5+1 had so far insisted that Iran stops all uranium enrichment; Iran continued with enrichment and went further and enriched uranium to 20 percent purity. Hence the four rounds of sanctions by the UN against Iran and additional sanctions by the West; namely against Iran’s central bank, making it difficult, if not impossible when fully executed on 1 July, for Iran to sell its oil (not able to receive payments from clients).
Talks/rumors on Baghdad talks are that the US will propose a limit of 5% for uranium enrichment, and Iran would accept tougher/additional protocol of IAEA, letting their inspectors to visit any site at anytime. The sanctions will then be lifted as Iran starts to implement the agreement. We need to wait for Baghdad to see if such compromise will be made between the two sides.
Hope I didn’t confuse the issue any further. Please sleet us know if there are any part still unclear to you.

No it's not a republic,it's a theocracy.
A theocracy means being ruled by clergy with religious laws.A republic is with secular laws and governed by the people for the people no matter what their religion or beliefs.
So Iran is unfortunately a theocracy.
"Its not a regime like a the Saudi or the ex egyptian or Ex Shah one."
No,it's just worse.
Baghdad... Vienna... what next, Geneva, then maybe Dubai... same ole, same ole...

Speak for yourself. I lived through the Shah era and this current regime is better compared to the Shah's regime.
Anon 2:20 AM
I doubt you were born then, just fed the usual nonsense in school by the mullah regime and you believed it.
If it's better than the Shahs regime, why do eight million Iranians live abroad so that they can get away as far as possible from this barbaric and primitive theocracy?
In the Shahs era there was Evin prison but in the era of the Islamic republic,Iran itself is the prison.
This regime is known for its imprisonments, torture, rapes, murder, executions, oppressions, stealing of national wealth to benefit themselves and their foreign proxies as well as their masters, the Chinese and Russians.Keeping the people downtrodden in the name of Allah and the Palestinians. All coupled with their misbegotten idiotic beliefs.
Yeah sure, this current era is better than the Shahs era. Is that why you are living in the West and writing like a hypocrite, you joker?
"Speak for yourself.I lived through the Shah era and this current regime is better compared to the Shah's regime."
I nearly died of laughter reading your comment!
Nothing was worse than the shah regime, we were servants of the US and the regime was asking the Mossad for guidance.
Now Iran is getting 100% of its oil price and has unrooted illitracy and has become selfsufficient in the millitary and has become semi industrial of its own hard work.
Iran is better off now than at least the last 200 years.
That is why we have so many enemies.
Bless Iran

First of all, I'm living in Tehran, you imbecile. Secondly and lastly, the eight million Iranians that live abroad, most of them are either monarchists or traitors and I sure as hell wouldn't want them back in our country.
Anon 2:25 AM
Yeah,hilarious isn't it?
Makes you wonder who these people really are?
What a bunch of jokers!

Doesn't matter Dariush, you just live in London and be a good hypocrite while our people are being tortured to death by this barbaric regime.
Now Iran has become the servants of the Chinese and our enemy the Russians.
Selling our oil to China at half price and the Chinese selling on in the spot market at full price, very clever you joker.
Yes,bless Iran the day when the people will kick this regime ass out for good.
Iran's is a better place? You obviously have been living in good old London and enjoying its freedoms to long to understand the plight of the downtrodden Iranian people.Very selfish of you.
Anon 4:22 PM
Don't be such a liar!
You don't live in Tehran, because if you did you wouldn't be able to post your nonsense.
This site as well as other free Iranian sites outside the sphere of terrorist Islamic theocracy is blocked in Iran.
And according to your very stupid assumption the eight million Iranians living abroad are all traitors? So therefore what are you doing on this site which is owned by an Iranian living abroad by the name of Uskowi,is he a traitor as well?
So who's the "imbecile" now?
"Iran is better off now than at least the last 200 years."
What nonsense were they teaching you at school?
Go and read some books and I don't mean those mullah inspired rubbish that some of those traitors write.
Reza Shah dragged Iran out of the mud.
"Now Iran is getting 100% of its oil price and has unrooted illitracy and become self sufficient in the military and become semi industrial of its own hard work".
They obviously didn't teach you to spell ILLITERACY properly, did they?
All the military programs were started in the Shah era.Building 1955 model T55 tanks is not progress in 2012.But in 1978 Iran was planing to build the challenger tank which to this day is one of the most advanced tanks in the world with transfer of technology.
All those anti ship missiles Iran supposed to have manufactured is actually Chinese imports and latter labelled as made in Iran to cover the embargo on weapons imported into Iran. They simply assemble most of those imports and boast that it's made in Iran.
And you believe the propaganda the regime spews out every day, very sad.
Iran is not getting 100% of its oil price because they are giving away oil to the Chinese in return for their second rate sub standard rejected junk that is not excepted in America and Europe but ends up in Iran.Iran can't receive cash but barter only,so there again you've written nonsense.
To sum it up for you,Iran has become a third rate economy (less than Turkey)despite its huge oil and gas reserves. And that is due to a bunch of greedy and ILLITERATE morons that are running the country into the ground because of their stupid and ignorant beliefs and practices.
As for the military, again they are a former shadow of themselves and is disgracefully taking orders from a ILLITERATE and barbaric old mullah by the name of Khamenei and his thieving and ILLITERATE merry minions.
But unfortunately for you none of this will go into your head because you are badly owned.
"Iran is better off now than at least the last 200 years."
Are you kidding us,and where did you get that information from,OPPRESS TV or FARCE News?
By saying these false and unfounded statements proves who you are working for.
Eehh :/ why do people have to resort to lies and deception...are they really that desperate?
you CAN come to this site from Iran.
Anon 8:26 AM.....No you can not go on this site in Iran you bare faced liar.
aha, its apparent that its one single idiot who argues with anyone who says they are in Iran, as if he is speaking from a position of authority. This same idiot is getting more and more desperat i see. You can come to this site from Iran. Deal with it. Lol!
Anon 4:54 AM
Bacheh Akhoond,I said you can't go on this site in Iran.
