Former French Prime Minister Michel Rocard arrived in Tehran on a 3-day
visit for meetings with senior Iranian officials. Today, he met
with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi at his office in downtown Tehran. Rocard, a member of the French
Socialist Party, is facilitating fresh contacts between Iran and the new French
Socialist government of president-elect Francois Hollande, said Michel Dubois,
a senior aide who accompanies Rocard during his trip.
Hollande will be sworn in as the new president on 15 May. Salehi told Rocard that he hopes the election of Francois Hollande will lead to the expansion of Tehran-Paris relations [IRNA, 12 May].

ReplyDeleteDear friend,
ReplyDeleteIt is *Michel* Rocard.
Thanks a lot for the news and your blog.
Thanks for the correction, and sorry for the mistake.
ReplyDeleteSeems the political landscape has changed dramatically..Now lets watch the big boys do real politics..The EU will settle for any deal with Iran on the nuclear issue in the upcoming meeting in Baghdad now that Tel Aviv's man in Europe's kicked out of power. The confrontation is one which is costing the EU too much in an unstable economic times. They don't need it.
ReplyDeleteWhich makes one wonder..Did Iran have a hand in Sarkozy's downfall?
As we know, Sarkozy was the glue that bound the hawkish EU policies towards Iran - along with his British tag-along, William Hague.
Wheels within wheels...;^)
Remember the old saying...."Never trust a Frenchmen."
ReplyDeleteEnough said.
