The Iranian military is continuing to improve the accuracy and power of its
long-and-short-range ballistic missile force, according to a Pentagon report
that was submitted to the US Congress. The report also said Iran's military is
designing a maneuvering weapon to target vessels. (Bloomberg/Ynet, 10 July)
To my knowledge Iran does not possess a long-range ballistic missile (LRBM). It does possess two general types of medium-range ballistic missile, of which the names Shahab-3 and Sedjil distinguish the two (among the two basic types' various other names). Accuracy is key for these types of deterrent weapons armed with conventional warheads, as they represent an indigenous and more economical alternative to strike aviation.
ReplyDeleteIf the "maneuvering weapon to target vessels" is a reference to the "Persian Gulf" anti-ship ballistic missile, that weapon has moved well beyond the "design" phase; rather it is being tested (one appears to have been tested last week) and entering service with the IRI military.
I was going to say the same about the persian gulf missile.... as for the rest of the repot... well DUHHH... why would they stop??? oh sure let's just stop our research and development in the one field where fruits are starting to be harvested... seriously this seems kind of a stupid assesment coming from the pentagon..
ReplyDeleteDo you mean an cruise missile? Nobody, certainly not Iran, has ballistic ASM capability at an operational level yet. China is only now at the IOC stage with their DF-21D.
ReplyDeleteHey Mark! What is wrong with you dude?
ReplyDeleteOfcourse Iran has longrange ballistic missiles and new Submarine capabilities. I posted a
redacted report from Jane's Defense Weekly Intel Magagazine. Didn't you see it? Iran has vastly improved its Naval, Air, and Missile capabilities. The Pentagon would not be worried if it were not so! Mark, you must know, that Iran has classified military capabilities, that you dont know about. even the Pentagon admits that it doesn't know everything about Iran's Military capabilities. Dont let these Anti Iran uneducated Armchair phonies who post on this Blog, fool you! They think that they know everything about Iran"s Military, but they dont. Theyre
miserable losers, who should give up on their aspirations of conquering the great Iranian People. Because it will never happen and in essence that is what the Pentagon report is trying to say. Because they fear Iran and what could happen if they tried somthing stupid!
US must find a way to put Israel on a leash.
ReplyDeleteA war with Iran is not going to change much.
Iran wont win, but nor will the US.
Somehow the US must find a ballance to say NO to Israel from time to time.
Anon 9:10, what distant planet have you been on?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the Iranian nation for once again proving all the doubters wrong.

ReplyDelete"Iran wont win, but nor will the US".
You are absolutely incorrect about this matter. Iran has already won.
Iran has managed to coalesce Russia and China into exerting it's influence throughout the Middle East region. it has observer status with the new Shanghai Corporation, and has also manage to burst the buble of the European Union. By holding out and being independant. Iran has reversed the penalty of sanctions, and has imposed it's own sanctions on Europe, which subsequently caused the USA to go Bankrupt!
touche!

ReplyDeleteSorry but you give a little too much credit to Iran. The U.S going bankrupt is the repercussion of a global situation (granted Iran does play a part but not a very big one)... The fact that neither Iran nor the U.S would win in a confrontation is enough to hold back the States from doing anything, Iran should not start thinking it can actually win the confrontation, it should simply try to minimize it's losses as NATO is doing.
Abandoning the 20% enrichment would be a very little concession if it could cancel some of the recent sanctions... this would actually be a victory for Iran under the circumstances.
Never forget that our world is now a global one, Iran must never forget it is not facing a single enemy but a conglomeration of envies, interests, ideologies and powers. Iran faces a much harsher environment in the economic sphere then the military one. Thus this sector should be viewed as the priority right now (if the regime were more of ideological lefties trying to localize the economy and bent on creating a participatory economy then they would actually be more in a position to boast economic warfare, right now they don't have much of a hand).
Anon 9:10 Is out of touch with reality, LOL! Persian Gulf missile is actually operational, and ready to be used.

Are you kidding me? Iran is like a first time Poker Player, on a hot winning streak,in Vegas about to put all the Casinos out of business!
1.Iran virtually owns all the Oilfields of South Basra, Iraq.
2.China, India, North Korea, and Eastern Europe, are still her primary Customers.
3.She now has Russia and China as her National Representatives and allies.
4.She has Israel cut off at the knees, with Hezbollah, brigades and Syria.
5.She just, recently Managed to indirectly beat back, Anglo/Zionist influence in the Middle east.
6.The USA and Nato are scared to attack her.
if this were the last poker game in the Casino before the big prize. Iran has the best hand in the house, because she just threw down a Royal Flush!
The USA, should strike a deal, immediately with Iran, if theyre smart. Because they could soon be marginalized and squeezed right out of the Middle East.
Touche!
I said Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile, morons. Yes, Iran has regular ballistic missiles, it's not a big achievement. Germany had them 70 years ago.

ReplyDelete2 yet they all have reduced how much oil they buy....
3 yet this hasn't stop further sanctions from passing (even though their "representatives have veto")...
4 Syria is facing its own internal struggle right now...
I agree Iran isn't in as bad of a position as most western media would have us believe, yet don't go the other way and simply discard any info that doesn't suit your tastes
@ Anon July 12, 2012 1:42 PM
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean. and you make a good point my friend.
touche, for you this time.
"Iran has reversed the penalty of sanctions, and has imposed it's own sanctions on Europe, which subsequently caused the USA to go Bankrupt!"
ReplyDeleteThis might be the stupidest thing I have ever read. I had to read it several times to make sure you were serious. Why are comments moderated here, exactly?

ReplyDeleteIgnore those stupid comments.
