Iran’s ministry of commerce and industry said the country has begun to
stockpile a three-month supply of foodstuffs. Deputy Minister Hassan Radmard
said his ministry has been buying wheat, cooking oil, sugar and rice for the food
reserve. (Mehr News Agency, 27 July)
Iran imports some 7.3 million tons of wheat, corn and rice a year (FAO). In
the first half of 2012, it has already imported 3 million tons of wheat, and is
now sourcing for additional 2 million tons for the second half of the year. (Reuters)
There have been reports already from the previous year this has been taking place. These can be viewed as precautionary for both the economic war being directed towards Iran, and any potential hot war that might be initiated against the country.
ReplyDeleteIt should be pretty obvious that like Britain in 1940, Iran does not intend to surrender under any foreseeable circumstances.
the reason that they've got all the wheat and oil.....is because Undia is sending it as payment for oil deliveries....
ReplyDeleteIt's barter unstead of cash.
As usual, it's a serious problem trumpeted as a triumph
