Iran plans to host a ministerial meeting of countries that have
"realistic stances" on Syria on Thursday, Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein
Amir Abdollahian announced today in Tehran. Abdollahian said the goal of the
meeting is to find “ways out of the current crisis and the return of stability
and calm to Syria.” (IRNA, 5 August)
The foreign ministry did not disclose the names of the countries with “realistic
stance” on Syria who will be attending the meeting, but Fars News Agency,
quoting unnamed senior officials, reported that at least 10 countries will be
in attendance.
