The U.S. led International Mine Countermeasures Exercise
(IMCMEX) got underway in the Persian Gulf on Sunday 16 September. The maneuvers
involving 20 nations will continue until 27 September. The naval exercise is
focused on keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to oil tankers if a military
conflict with Iran breaks out.
