British Prime Minister David
Cameron's office today confirmed a report published by the Guardian newspaper
that Britain was involved in military contingency planning with the United
States over Iran. (AP, 26 October)
The Guardian reported on Friday
that the U.S. had asked Britain to use its bases in Cyprus and for permission
to fly from US bases on Ascension Island in the Atlantic and Diego Garcia in the
Indian Ocean, both of which are British territories, in case of the need for strikes to halt Iran's nuclear program. (The
Guardian, 26 October)
The British government has declined
to comment on The Guardian's report that U.K. attorney general Dominic Grieve
had issued legal advice cautioning against a pre-emptive strike as “illegal” because
Iran did not constitute “a clear and present threat.”
The PM office insisted however that
the talks are not prelude to a pre-emptive attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
“The government does not believe
that military action against Iran is the right option at this time, but we are
not taking any option off the table,” Cameron's spokeswoman said. (AP)

The same old boring rhetoric and hollow threats against Iran since 1979. It is all not about Iran's peaceful nuclear program but indeed, the unstoppable rapid growth of Iran's military power, might and capabilities in the whole region of the Middle East.
yes, mat, ever since Iran developed cold fusion and invisibility fields to go along with the nuclear warhead-bearing flying carpets, Iran is like the military master of the entire known universe.
it's not just you and your pals from the locked ward saying it.
