Tehran Grand Bazaar remained half closed on Thursday after a day of strike
and protests over the plunge of the national currency, the rial, and the skyrocketing prices. There are some
wings of the bazaar, like the Garment
Bazaar, that are completely closed and there are shops in other wings that are open but with shutters brought down half the way and the lights off. The bazaar is expected to reopen after the Friday Sabbath.
Meanwhile, NAJA’s anti-riot force are deployed at key Tehran intersections today. The show of force by the police reflects concerns by the authorities that the anti-government protests on Wednesday could continue in the capital.
