Opposition Leaders Hospitalized

Iranian opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi were hospitalized for several hours and underwent medical tests on Monday. (Shamnews/Radio Farda, 20 November)

Mousavi, a former prime minister and the leader of 2009 Green Movement, who’s since been under house arrest, has reportedly suffered in recent weeks from chest pains and extreme fluctuation of his blood pressure. In August, Mousavi underwent an angiography. Karroubi, also a leading figure of the Green Movement and also under house arrest, has recently lost a substantial amount of weight and suffers from loss of appetite, nausea, and dizziness. Last year, he suffered from respiratory complications.

Family members and aides believe that the health of the men has deteriorated as the result of their detention.

  1. Oh please, they're not the real opposition against the regime.
Mousavi and Karroubi are the same criminals as Khameini and Rafsanjani.

There are plenty of real opposition people which have been imprisoned tortured and executed.

  2. If Mousavi and Karroubi are criminal, who are the ‘real’ opposition you are supporting? Or by ‘real’ do you mean they do not represent your viewpoints, hence criminal?

The real opposition is a leaderless one for now. And by hanging onto Mousavi's and Karroubi's coat tails is a dead end road leading back to more of the same thing.

But surly even if I didn't care about politics, does that mean that the regime isn't criminal by nature?

Are they not criminal by the extreme underhanded methods they use against the Iranian people?

And one more question. Didn't Mousavi and Karroubi both under their guardianship in the 1980s execute thousands of political prisoners or not?

This fascist Islamic anti Iranian theocracy is not reformable in any shape form or color.

  7. Anon 1:56 PM,

No, they don’t. But they have my support and respect for standing up to authoritarianism.

    Anon 10:12 AM,

Real opposition should enjoy wide support among the population. Never heard a real opposition force anywhere that remains anonymous. Politics is not a blog! My problem with your analysis however remains, you seem to be calling any opposition member that you do not agree with politically or ideologically as not real and criminal, a dangerous tendency for the future of the country.

  8. Nader Uskowi, these people are criminals and they have a proven track record for their acts. This is not my opinion but documented historical facts.
They are part of this authoritarianism and system that exists in Iran.
If you except Mousavi and Karroubi as the regime manufactured "opposition" then that as you know will lead to nowhere but the continued rule by the mullah run theocracy.
The dangerous tendency for the future of the country is not my opinion but the continues rule by a ruthless anti Iranian Islamist element.
    Is that what you want?
When will Iranians learn from their mistakes?
Haven't you learned anything from 2009 so called elections when Mousavi caved in and gave his total support to the Valih-e-faqih?
And that despite the Valih-e-faqih clobbering the people to death and running over them with police pickup trucks.
You said "politics is not a blog"
Well go and say that to people like Beheshti's mother who recently received her blogger sons cold dead body from Evin prison.

His PHD in western philosophy is of no use when he is part of the government of Allah on earth.
