Iran and the six world powers will meet in Istanbul at the
end of January, Russia’s state new agency RIA Novosti reported today. Iranian popular news site Baztab also carried RIA Novosti’s
report.
On Friday, Russia had expressed concerns that no date
or venue had been set for the long anticipated meeting on Iran nuclear
program. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov had called delays “alarming.”
Reuters had quoted an unnamed diplomatic source on
Friday as saying that Iran had not responded to EU proposal setting 15 January as
the date for the meeting between Iran and P5+1. The two sides have not met
since a June meeting in Moscow.
