Another scathing book by an administration insider on American policy toward Iran

Now, in addition to former Bush administration officials Flynt and Hillary Mann Leverett, add this one by former Obama administration official Vali Nasr, titled "The Dispensable Nation".

As the Moon of Alabama blog points out:

The Obama administration is simply not serious with negotiations. One of its former members, Vali Nasr, who is now dean of the John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, has a new book coming where he explicitly says so:
In Iran, Nasr demonstrates Obama’s deep ambivalence about any deal on the nuclear program. “Pressure,” he writes, “has become an end in itself.” The dual track of ever tougher sanctions combined with diplomatic outreach was “not even dual. It relied on one track, and that was pressure." The reality was that,“Engagement was a cover for a coercive campaign of sabotage, economic pressure and cyberwarfare.”
Opportunities to begin real step-by-step diplomacy involving Iran giving up its low-enriched uranium in exchange for progressive sanctions relief were lost. What was Tehran to think when “the sum total of three major rounds of diplomatic negotiation was that America would give some bits and bobs of old aircraft in exchange for Iran’s nuclear program”?
In the past this writer has corresponded with Vali Nasr. I've found him to be highly approachable and sincere, even though I haven't agreed with him 100 percent of the time. But in Shirazi's observations of his writings, I concur. Look for a book review of Nasr's upcoming book review in a future post of Uskowi on Iran.  /mp

  2. Is it the same Nasr that is in that traitor Trita Parsi's footsteps?

    1. According to MEK all other Iranian are traitors since they don't want the destruction of their country and also hate to see Iaqization/syrinization of their country by puppet groups like MEK. I think Mr. Parsi is doing a good job fighting against sanctions imposed unjustly against Iranian people. It is secondary to me what is hos personal motivation is

    2. I'm no a damn MEK and still say Trita Parsi is a traitor.

    3. What exactly makes him a traitor? beings against sanctions and war? Defending negotiations between iran and US ? what exactly?
As far as I am concerned the most prominent opposition leader like Mousavi also are completely against sanctions and war and also support Iran's nuclear program. You probably think they are traitors too but most people in Iran don't think like you

    4. You call Mousavi the most prominent "opposition" leader?
Well that explains you quite clearly.
You don't represent most people in Iran so drink a tall glass of ZERESHK juice.

    5. OK clarify me then who is the most prominent opposition leader in your mind? Masoud Rajavi or Mr. Pahlavi? The first is traitor who helped Saddam and has no place in Iran; If that's the case I have nothing more to talk to you . The later is mostly a joke who lives with money his daddy stole from Iran and talk a lot. Anyway, none of these guy are even comparable to Karubi (which I don't like and even consider a leader) If you have someone else in mind let us know

      Delete
    6. Karubi and Mousavi are a joke! They are Mozdors of the regime. They betrayed the people so that the regime can be salvaged.
Only a complete idiot would believe that they are the true "opposition".
Don't worry there is no need to clarify who the true opposition leader is because you're so blinded by your bigotry and hatred that even if it landed on your thick skull you would deny it.
But when it does arrive you will realize that what a cretin you were for believing in your own nonsense.

    7. You know it just easier to spell a name rather than trolling. But I know there is no one that you can mention. Mousavi has the vote of the people and stands for them and is the prison. Shame on you to call him Mozdor. As far as I am concerned you might be MEK or Phaliavi or Khmeneie sympathizer

Nasr and Trita Parsi work together and that speaks volumes by itself. So the crackpot comment is emanating from the likes of you.

    2. You're right. A former member of Obama's administration and the current dean of one of America's most prestigious university is definitely an IR agent! Who would have thought he could have gotten away with it even with the multiple background checks that must have been conducted, but you good sir (can I call you detective Sherlock Anonymous?) have figured it all out.

IR must be really clever for orchestrating such a successful mission. :)

    3. Get it in your thick skull no Iranian in their right mind want this goddamn regime in any shape form or color.
The IR have their lackeys to do their bidding in the West.

People like you who label others based on their opinion are the real problems in Iran . You are no different from Keyhan or Mashreghnews

The humour continues! Your performance has been great tonight. I especially liked the joke when you implied that NOT supporting war and sanctions against Iran means that you are an IR agent. I guess Akbar Ganji and Shirin Ebadi must be IR agents as well? How about Fareed Zakaria and Ron Paul? :)

      Delete
    6. Yeah good idea you wait and let the regime destroy Iran. And by the way being an atheist in Iran if found out is punishable by imprisonment or death.I am glad people like me are real problem in Iran.

    7. "I don't want change of regime to destroy Iran."

@A typical remark from a closet regime supporter.

"I prefer to wait until time change them gradually."

@You can wait for 1400 years more or until hell freezers over but still they wont change.

Akbar Ganji like his beloved Mousavi is an IR agent "reformist".Shirin Ebadi is a "reformist" apologist who has forgotten how she became a judge because of the former regime support of Woman's Rights. No one in their right mind trusts these charlatans.
Sanctions on this regime is working and that's why Trita Parsi and other IR agents are busting their asses to lobby against it for the preservation of their bank balances and their masters.

    9. To anon 11:02:
Mousavi and Khatami unlike you have more than 20 million votes each. What gives you the right to even think that you are presenting Iranian people more than someone with 20 million votes. It is a typical Khamenie / Keyan attitude which is a part of most Iranian,

      Delete
    10. Anon 12:54

What gives you the right to think that you represent Iranian people?
Those 20 million so called "votes" of Mousavi and Khatami amounts to ZILCH when you have a barbaric undemocratic system running the country.
And those 20 million "votes" just like the 25 million "votes" that Ahmadinejad was supposed to have won in the 2009 June "elections" or better put as SELECTIONS is all rigged to fool gullible people like you.LOL!

    14. You mean you don't know the real opposition leader of Iran is?
And you call me ignorant? Well sparky go and figure for yourself who the true opposition leader of Iran is.
Meanwhile fantasize about the "golden days of imam" when thousands of young Iranians were murdered in the IR dungeons by no other than Mousavi. You "reformists" are the most dirty traitors in the history of Iran whose main aim is the preservation of the Islamic terrorist regime.

    15. That's funny you write a whole sentence instead of just writing one name. I challenge you to just name it in ONE word. If you can't (which is what I think) then just shut up.

    16. "ONE word.If you can't then just shut up."

You see this is the type of fascistic attitude that is in control in Iran. You have shown the true face of a backward nasty fascist Islamic theocracy that oppresses the people when they try to voice their objections to the regime by imprisoning, torturing, raping and killing them.
Thank you for showing your true ugly face to us.

      Delete
    17. and thank you to show that you are just an empty bowl and can't even name your imaginary leader

    19. You know it is the last comment I write here so do not bother to answer but instead of all bragging you just can name that leader of yours if you have any. Why you hide it? Because you are ashamed of him/her? Or you just want to trolling? I don't know and don't care. Any person with a half brain can see you are just trolling without answering a straight question. I gave my opinion very clearly and I asked you to let us know who is the most prominent leader of opposition in your mind! Instead you just answer the question wuth more question well it reminds me of certain politician in Iran whose name is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad when he interview with other medias. At least Ahmadinejad can manage to discuss more intelligently you ate the other hand discuss like 10 years old children.

  7. Really i have to tell you guys ( Antiiranian Movement ) when this ADVISOR of Mr. Obama would write something ANTIIRANIAN ( regime ) then u would say: Oh yes he is right. He must know because he is in this diplomatical level....But really it is sooooo funny that you find everytime a way out...the best one was: Yeah he is a guy from Rafsanjani...because Rafsanjani is wannbe reformist...so he is the only one you could choose to say this...because it would be very stupid to say from ahmadinejad or Khamenei...but go ahead and maybe one day it will become true what you say for 30 years now. They will not survive this year/this election....for 30 years now...i hope you all will become more than 100 years to see this for at least 3 times 30 years...BUT BY THE WAY I am not a fan of the regime and i hate it also that in lot of important positions bache Akhund is on activ duty...but that is everywhere the same...only in the west they can manage to hide it very good...in Iran: Well as i told bache Akhunds are not soooo much intelligent to hide it good. THATS IT. BUT WHAT I REALLY HATE IS IRANIANS THAT for there own sake call on america and arabs puppet to bomb iran. YOU are all BARADARKOSH...dont forget this...you are all BARADARKOSH...same like Akhuds...Peace and Love and respect for all of you...
