Operations at Bushehr Nuclear Reactor Suspended

Operations at the Bushehr nuclear power plant have been halted again until 28 February to enable repairs of the turbine generator, Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency reported today.

The IAEA had also reported suspension of operation at Busheher in a report on Friday.

“During the examination conducted by the IAEA at Bushehr NPP on Feb. 16-17, Iran informed the agency that the reactor had been stopped,’’ IAEA reported today. (RIA Novosti, 22 February)

Iran’s foreign minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, told reporters in Tehran that Iran is going to “delay the transfer of the Bushehr NPP” from Russian to Iranian control.

“Until we have complete confidence that all the station's technical problems are addressed, we will delay the transfer of the Bushehr NPP.

  1. Repairs to the turbine generators? The damn reactor hasn't been on for less than a year and it needs repairs already?
I would say the "mighty Islamic republic" has been shafted and should demand from Russia the money back.
