Iran will soon start constructing Ayni hydroelectric power
station on the Zarafshan River in Tajikistan, Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar
Salehi said on Friday during his visit to Tajik capital of Dushanbeh. (IRNA, 28
March)
Iranian engineers have developed a feasibility study for
the 240-megawatt hydroelectric power station. Iranians have already built
another hydroelectric power plant over the Vakhsh River in Tajikistan. That
project will be formally inaugurated later this week.

Iran is also building the world's tallest concrete dam that will be built in the Lorestan ,a western province of Iran bordering the Zagros massif. There is no question that Iran's engineering and construction skills are perhaps in the world's top tiers. As an engineer, I can tell you that Iranians are highly regarded as professionals and their skills are in great demand now all over the world. Iran's post revolutionary investment in education and the innate hard-working and industrious nature of Iranians is paying-off well. A great achievement by any standards.
