Iran Calls for Formation of ‘Transitional Government’ in Syria

Iran today called on Syrian president Bashar Assad and the opposition to form a transitional government in Syria until new elections can be held. The Iranian foreign minister, visiting Saudi Arabia, also warned that Syria could break up and its conflict spills across the region unless a political solution can end the bloodshed soon.

“God forbid, if there was a void, or disintegration, in Syria, this crisis would spill over into all countries in the region,” Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi told reporters in Jeddah on Sunday after holding talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal.
Salehi said the Syrian government and its opponents should seek a political solution by setting up a “transitional government” until elections. (AP, 13 May)

  1. According to the Zionist media and the drugged nargila debka ladies in the low-rent Tel-Aviv apartment, the Saudis have given up on the US/UK NATO Salafi mercenaries as the brave Syrian military has regained all territory and is in the process of wiping out the last pockets of terrorism. Only their British poodle Cameron is desperate to keep arming the disgusting Takfiri savages who are eating the hearts of Syrians as their revolting videos showed. The Takfiri terrorists have turned the whole world against them by their sheer animal savagery. President Assad looks like an angel in comparison.

"Saudi Arabia is exploring dialogue with its great regional rival Iran for ending the Syrian conflict and assuring Lebanon’s political future, debkafile’s Gulf sources report. Riyadh has given up on US policy for Syria in view of Russia's and Iran's unbending support for Bashar Assad; his battlefield gains aided by Hizballah and Iranian Bassij forces; and Turkey’s failure to react to the Reyhanli bombings. These perceptions generated a get-together between the Saudi and Iranian foreign ministers Monday, May 13. in Jeddah."

    2. You must admit mr uskowi the tide of the war appears to have turned in favor of the government forces add to that the increasing perception of the opponents ranks being filled with foreign jihadi/salafists,its not looking all that good for assads enemies be they local or regional as the saudis.turks, jordanians and the west/nato have a lot of their credibility in the region riding on an increasingly remote possibility of a fsa/jihadi victory,I`m sure there are many in that group who would very much like a face saving way out

-He is not angry by this latest Iranian overture on Syria.Indeed Iran is a Rational country wishing that the trouble Arab Nation realizes real peace. And this is possible only when the true Syrian opposition sits together with the government on a table and chart forward the destiny of their Nation. The Rats have lost this war anyway! and to invite them on a table is good for the stability of the Nation and saving lives !.

    4. @ 2:16 AM,
The balance of power in Syria has always been in favor of the government. The movement began as peaceful street demonstrations by citizens on foot and soon faced an army that has been trained for more than 40 years under the Assads and is considered one of the better armies in the region. That imbalance continues. The opposition forces are no match to trained soldiers, tanks, air power and missile forces of a government that has shamelessly use them on its own people. What the opposition has, however, is what oppositions in all countries under dictatorship have: the right to fight the dictators for liberty and freedom. More the fighting continues, however, more extreme the movement became, and more susceptible to infiltration of foreign Jihadists and local extremists. Sooner the fighting ends, better off for all moderate forces wanting a stable but democratic Syria. The Iranian call for a transitional government to oversee the national election is logical and a good start. This fighting needs to come to an end.

      @B.M.A.,
Iranian foreign minister called for a transitional government of pro government and opposition forces. You must have read a wrong document referring to the opposition as “rats.” These types of extremism displayed in the language employed by people like you are the root cause of the continuation of this conflict. If the two sides do not compromise, fragmentation of the country will be a real possibility, with unwanted consequences for the region as a whole. I do agree with Mr. Salehi’s assessment. Both sides need to recognize this reality and let us all hope that cooler heads prevail and both sides sit around the table to form a government for the sake of their country and their people.

There is nothing shameless in fighting a foreign backed insurrection,if the us faced the same thing that syria did obama would not hesitate to use his military to put it down even if it involved heavy loss of life, and although the balance of military force may have been on the government side for most of the war the government of syria was either unwilling or unable to use those forces to their fullest effect and as a result seemed to be on the back foot tactically leaving the rebels with the initiative, thankfully this now appears to be changing. The problem with this "both sides" business is who represents the fsa/wahabists?,the exiles who prostitute themselves in european capitals are just that they have no control over "their" forces on the battlefield and now that the government is winning why would it negotiate and give the rebels a chance to regroup and we have seen no sign as yet from the true backers of the fsa/wahabists,the arabs and the west that their gambit has failed and some face saving way out needs to be found, until they acknowledge this the war will continue, the rebels for their part show no sign that the jig is up and that their only hope is to negotiate, they still demand the destruction of assad and his government. The politicians can talk as much as they like but this war will be decided on the battlefield

    6. It’s interesting how the ideology of all extremists (of all colors) controls their arguments. To justify the support of a dictator, because that dictator in this case is thought to be a champion of anti-West front in the region, they allow themselves to call all of Syrian opposition and Syrian people fighting for their rights and freedom agents of foreign power. It is also interesting that most of these extremists also are defenders of the Islamic Republic, which came to being through a popular anti-dictatorship movement!

The simple reality is that Assad represents a dictatorship that has ruthlessly governed Syria for more than four decades, and the time has arrived for it to go. Do all opposition groups worthy of replacing him? I am sure not. But in all these types of movements you have good and the bad and the people of the country should be aware of that distinction.

We have the experience of Iranian revolution as well, of how some extremists could sell themselves as “opposition” to the Shah, although they were more reactionary than the Shah, opposing him not because he was a backward dictator, but they thought he was too modern. Syria is no exception.

By the same token the west is not supporting these groups because they want democracy in syria, and many of these groups, the wahabists for instance are not fighting for democracy,a fully democratic syria would be just as hostile to israel and western goals in the region, the west is supporting these groups in an attempt to hurt iran and to try and curb its rising power and influence and to try and do so ironically by using the cover of the arab spring that has done such a lot to weaken the western backed status quo.One only has to look at how phoney the calls for democracy are from governments that support the disgusting saudi dictatorship or the deafening silence over bahrain and the continuing violence there

    8. No sane person can support the militant rats in Syria who have repeatedly demonstrated their savagery and fanaticism. They make children cut off adults' heads and they eat the dead. They and their apologists have no humanity.

    9. How can anyone sane support the militants? They have proven themselves to be anti-democratic savages who force children to behead adults and commit cannibalism.

  2. As I have said before, Iran is the only kingmaker in the unfortunate Syrian conflict which is stoked by UK, US and their Wahabbi puppets. The FACT is that the Takfiri groups have been defeated and hence the Zionist puppet Cameron's futile dash to Sochi and then to Washington. I a very glad about Iran's resolute position and unflinching support for the popular and legitimate government of President Bashar al Assad, whose name even the imbecile Obama could not pronounce. Russia again stressed that there can be NO SOLUTION WITHOUT IRAN. Considering the evil US/Zionist agenda, I don't believe there will be any talks or coalition government and the only outcome would be a TOTAL DEFEAT FOR THE BLOODTHIRSTY HEART EATING TAKFIRI SCUM.

  3. Russia scolds Zionists and confirms S-300 sale to Syria

According to Al-Quds Al-Arabi, Moscow had delivered 200 and 14 launchers to the Syrian military and has already trained teams in how to use them.

Russian diplomats leaked to the London-based Arab press a report that the S-300 missiles had already arrived in Syria and Russia is also augmenting its naval fleet at Tartus. This news comes at the heels of Russia's expulsion of a US "diplomat" in Moscow on spying charges.

BEIRUT — An unlikely US military action against Syria’s government over its alleged use of chemical weapons would run up against one of the Middle East’s most formidable air defenses, a system bolstered in recent days by top-of-the-line Russian hardware including S-300. In the aftermath of Israeli airstrike, Russia has provided Syria with new systems, such as 36 Pantsyr mobile surface-to-air missile systems and at least eight Buk-M2E mobile SAMs. The Pantsyrs, considered particularly effective against attacking aircraft, feature a combination of 30mm cannons paired with a radar and anti-aircraft missiles all on the same vehicle.

At the same time, old SA-3s were upgraded to Pechora-2Ms — essentially a new and much more capable system.

By this leak and other events, the Israeli prime minister was being informed that his journey to Sochi was a waste of time and that the use of S-300 missiles for shooting down Israeli Air Force planes was no longer controlled by Moscow but by Damascus and its increasingly confident military buoyed by Russian and Iranian support.

The S-300 is one of Russian's modern long range SAM systems designed to shoot down planes and missiles at 200-km ranges.

Syrian SAM umbrella will now be available for operating the missiles effectively for downing Zionist planes striking targets in Syria and Lebanon. Russia's response to Zionist aggression will now make them think twice before attacking the S-300 batteries for fear of hitting the Russian officers. Putin is therefore placing a severe constraint on Zionist operational freedom by spreading an anti-air missile cover over the Syrian, Hizbollah and the Iranian special forces fighting for President Bashar al Assad.

Russia has also indicated that it intends to strengthen diplomatic, trade and strategic (military)cooperation with Iran.

    2. Russia is playing a very high-stakes game to throw-off the US/Zionists and lull them into an aerial ambush over Syria. Russians are masters of poker and know that the US has no stomach for a 3rd and final swan song war in the Islamic world. In any case the brave and determined Syrian military is winning on all fronts. The sickening videos of the Takfiri/Wahabbi terrorist scum eating hearts of Syrian soldiers is only making more people support President Assad at home and abroad. The pet UN monkey Ban-ki-Moon is embarrassed at the sick behavior of US sponsored terrorists.

Russia shows Nothing Yahoo the door

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spent three hours with Russian President Vladimir Putin at his residence in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, Tuesday, May, 14. He came for a last-ditch attempt to head off the supply of advanced Russian anti-air S-300 missile systems to Syria. Instead, the Russian leader turned the conversation around to focus implicitly on Israel’s air strikes against Damascus on May 3 and May 5. After their conversation he issued a warning: "In this crucial period it is especially important to avoid any moves that can shake the situation."
This was clearly a hands-off caution to Israel not to repeat its attacks on Damascus. And, furthermore, after “shaking the situation” in Syria by its air attacks, Israel was in no position to demand that Russia avoid selling Syria advanced weapons.

It is quite apparent that Russia is holding its cards very close to the chest.

that is some truly dumb stuff. your entire comment is more of the same nonsense and reflects an utter lack of comprehension as to the situation, Russia's real interests, and the actual abilities of the Assad military and their equally ugly allies.

Russia has no real interests in the Assad dictatorship and will NOT openly fight with them nor fight with Iran.

Russian FM: Moscow will go ahead with S-300 sale to Syria

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday that Moscow planned to go ahead with its shipment of S- 300 missiles to Syria, saying the deal had been sealed before the recent air strikes on Syria, reportedly carried out by Israel.

“Missile defense systems are delivered to protect the country that buys them from air strikes. But these contracts were signed long before air strikes on Syria were launched last year and now,” Lavrov said in an interview with Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen TV channel.

Moscow is honoring previous agreements and has not signed any new contracts with Damascus, he stressed.

“Those who do not plan aggressive actions against a sovereign state have nothing to worry about, because air defense methods – and this is clear from the name – are a purely defensive system required to repel air attacks,” Lavrov said.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu reportedly failed to persuade an angry Russian President Vladimir Putin in a summit in Sochi on Tuesday not to sell the state-of-the-art S-300 anti-aircraft missiles to Syria. Russia is also re-considering the sale of S-300 to Iran.

CIA: Assad would get 75% of vote in elections

    15 May 2013 15:23

Islam Times - Reports from the CIA - U.S Central Intelligence Services - estimated that if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was to run for presidential elections he would get elected with 75% of votes, a clear majority.

Syria next presidential elections are set to take place in 2014.

The CIA which has been gathering files and reports on Syria established that unless a serious candidate was to challenge President Assad for the presidency, the latter would get re-elected.

The CIA also believes that Syria's military superiority on the ground will continue to generate broad popular support. "Support will continue until the next presidential elections," read a report.

  5. "Moderate" Islamist Free Syrian Army Commander Who Ate Heart, Vows Genocide

Time Magazine has obtained an exclusive interview with Khalid al Hamad, a commander of the Omar al Farouk brigade of the Free Syrian Army, who was caught on video trying to eat a dead Syrian soldier’s heart. And then the sick Islamist cannibal tells Time that he…

    1. Thought he was eating a liver not a heart (or lungs?), which puts him in slightly more logical Hannibal territory

    2. Was outraged by a naked video on the dead soldier’s cell phone

    3. Wants to kill all the Shias

Cheerful stuff. Let’s get this man some more RPGs with US tax dollars to defend liberty and democracy.

Time identifies the Islamist cannibal as a commander of the Omar al Farouk brigade. Despite being known as the Independent Omar al-Farouq Brigade, they are one of the largest units of the Free Syrian Army and other Wahabbi terrorist groups.

The Farouk Brigade has been described as “Moderately Islamist.” In other words, these are the people US would be giving weapons to if Obama and NATO continues to arm the Syrian rebels.

Moscow reports that four batteries of S-300 systems with 100-150 simultaneously deployable, guided anti-aircraft missiles have already been shipped to Syria complete with Russian military “adviser” crews.

Russia is also examining other needs of the Syrian military and intends to make further arms sales to its allies in the region.
