From the Archives: 1971 report from Iran -- 'An Iranian King in Persia'

Interesting and insightful report into Iran from 1971. Highlighted was the military situation in the country, the social scene, the boom times in the manufacturing sector along with some somewhat prescient speculation regarding the potential of the Shah's peacock throne becoming the "hottest seat in the Middle East."

Fitting considering the report was made in 1971 not long after the Shah underwent his exorbitant festival in Persepolis to mark 2,500 years of monarchy in Iran whereby he invited foreign dignitaries as opposed to his people, irking many Iranians, such as the clergy who saw it as the epitome of the decadence exhibited by the last Shah of Iran.

shaw n shaw cooked his own goose by flying in meals from Maxims and wasting over $200 million (today's 3.8 billion)on this farce while 80% of Iranians could not eat three meals a day and most villages had no roads or electricity. Persepolis and his total reliance on CIA/MOSSAD misinformation and deluded reports about the level of discontent in Iran just accelerated the revolution. The SAVAK and its brutal tactics, Ashraf's and the "pahlavi" arrogance and corruption just sealed his fate. The so-called Pahlavi era will always be remembered as Iran's darkest hour.

Iran capable of producing 30 nuclear bombs a year

AFP - Iran is working round the clock to enlarge its nuclear infrastructure with the eventual aim of developing an industry capable of building up to 30 bombs a year, an Israeli minister charged on Monday.

Speaking to reporters in Jerusalem, Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz said Tehran was "very close" to crossing the red line laid out by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last year.

But he said it was biding its time and building uranium-enrichment facilities before making the final push for weapons-grade material.

"The Iranians are getting very close now to the red line... They have close to 200 kilos -- 190 kilos (418 pounds) -- of 20 percent enriched uranium," Steinitz said.

"Once they have 250 kilos, this is enough to make the final rush to 90 percent," the level of enrichment required for a nuclear warhead, he said in a presentation to the Foreign Press Association.

"It is a matter of weeks or maybe two months to jump from 20 percent to 90 percent with so many centrifuges," he said.

Azadi Tower was called Shahyād Āryāmehr Tower at the time. The name was changed following the revolution.

It's "Shah" not "shaw" you ignorant little basij boy.If SAVAK was as brutal as the present regime goons then you and people like youself would have been dead long ago.Iran's "darkest hour" or lets just say darkest decades will be remembered under the present theocratic shysters.

Actually the SAVAKI moft khors did try to silence us. We are the only living legend of Eyeranians to be teargassed in the lawns of the white house as shaw and peanuts Carter were calling Iran an "island of stability" and thousands were outside the gates with "marg bar shaw" chants and then the teargas flew by the canister load. The shaw very bad puppet indeed.

Come on now. We all know after 34 long years of barbaric rule by these shysters that they have perfected the art of Moft Khori and Mozdor Parvari (good example is you). Most of those participants in that demonstration were Palestinians with some misguided left over tramps.
We all know that Carter used "the island of stability" speech as a code to give the go ahead to gomaniac (the real puppet of the West)and his associates to enslave Iran and prepare it to be ruled and raped by bigoted, barbaric mongrels from the deserts of greater Arabia.
Gomaniac very good puppet of the Western oil cartel indeed.

10:22 PM maybe you have a point in saying that the shah was a "very bad puppet". Because he refused to yield at the west. Therefore they got shot of him and was replaced by the present regime that gladly gives away Iran's oil to countries like China and India for nothing. There is an old saying in Iran and it goes like this,"look under every mullahs beard and you will see,Made in Britain".

Actually more then the 10,000 people demonstrating against the shaw at the white house were mostly Iranian students, and even military personnel doing training as far as Texas who had come on specially chartered buses with their own hard earned money, unlike your savaki moft khors. The FACT remains that the shaw was totally out of touch with Iran like most of today's aging Tehrangelis delusional set who simply do not understand Iranian psyche and socio-political dimensions. Also the pathetic United States of Stasi police state does not offer the world anything but more torture, surveillance, police state, Gitmo, renditions and done murders not to mention economic bankruptcy and LOST WARS. When Putin and Russia starts offering asylum to US political dissenters and CIA/NSA whistleblowers you can imagine the total bankruptcy of US decaying police state. Just like the shaw and his rotten shaw n shawye.

The US and the Zionists were giving the shaw a similar suicidal brutal blueprint that would have eventually destroyed Iran. Even according to Asadollah Alam, and other the shaws cronies, he spent more time bunkered with his MOSSAD Tehran station chief than with his won Iranian advisors. So no wonder the shaw took off in a hurry for Panama. The Zionists fed his ego and plundered Iranian oil while the revolution gathered pace right at his palace doors. The "pahlavis" were big connoisseurs of opium which may have further affected their delusions of grandeur.

You silly little basij boy.You must be on opiates the way you're spurting out opprobrious language against Iranian national sensibilities.Just to remind you that it was gomaniac the "mad mullah" and leading "project" by Jimmy Carter that buggerd the Iranain nations progress.Gomaniac's lunatic bedouin cult has paved the way for Iran being raped and oppressed for the sake of keeping it retarded and in service of China's and Rrussia's economy.

Iran was called Persia up until 1935 .The name was changed following Reza shah's Coup in December 15, 1925 .
