Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif
placed a telephone call to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon late Sunday,
announcing Iran’s readiness to find a “peaceful solution” to the crisis in
Syria, state broadcaster IRIB reported.
“While rejecting the use of force in resolving the crisis in Syria, (Zarif) asserted that Iran is ready to find a peaceful resolution,” IRIB reported.
Zarif was also quoted as telling Ban that “military intervention in Syria has damaging and widespread consequences, control of which will be very difficult.” (IRIB/AFP, 2 September)

The report, however, did not give any details on
the Iranian proposal on how to avoid the announced U.S. plans for a military
attack on Syria or how to end the civil war in the country.

This is what I love about Obama. Being a bullshit artist himself, he completely sees through Iran's bullshit. Expect him to pass more crushing sanctions, and laugh off Iranian attempts to treat him like some naive tourist at a rug bazaar.
ReplyDeleteThe occupying Islamic regimes "proposal"(because this is not an "Iranian" regime)is to maintain their chum Assad as long as possible so that Hezbollahs rear end can be protected and supplied. The reason is because the ideological and malefactor Islamic theocracy can continue with their personal obsession with the so-called "Zionists" and "Western Imperialists" at the expense of keeping the Iranian people in malice.
ReplyDeleteThe Iranian perspective on peace in Syria is probably best articulated HERE and can be characterized as continuos with the previous administration, promoting free and fair elections in Syria in 2014.
ReplyDeleteFurthermore, the Iranians really are not in a position to provide a proposal on how to avoid a U.S.-led strike on Syria. That decision making rests here in Washington.
Oh yes, I expect the Baathists to conduct "free and fair elections". Indeed, Hafez Assad and his son have been elected and reelected to the "Presidency" since 1971 (just like Khamenei has been freely, popularly, and democratically elected Leader of the Islamic "Republic" since 1989).
