Iran Will Never Develop Nuclear Weapons - Rouhani

‘I Have Full Authority to Negotiate a Nuclear Deal’

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said today in an interview with NBC's Ann Curry that Iran would never develop nuclear weapons and that he has full authority to negotiate a nuclear deal with the West.

Speaking with Curry at his presidential compound in Tehran, Rouhani also said the tone of a letter he had received from President Barack Obama was “positive and constructive.”

“It could be subtle and tiny steps for a very important future,” Rouhani said. (NBC News, 18 September)

Echoing what Iran’s supreme leader have said before, Rouhani told NBC that his country would “never develop nuclear weapons” under any circumstances

Rouhani, who took office in August, also said he had “full authority” in nuclear talks with the West.
