Iran Chamber Planning Kish-New York Nonstop Flights

Iran’s Chamber of Commerce announced today that it is launching the first nonstop flight between Iran and the United States since the 1979 revolution.

“Preliminary measures have been taken and we are waiting to receive the final permission from the Civil Aviation Organization to launch 13-hour charter flights to the United States,” said Abolfazl Hejazi, an official with the Iranian chamber of commerce. “We have proposed launching the flights between Kish Island in the Persian Gulf and the New York City, because Kish is a free economic zone and there is no need for visa to enter the island,” Hejazi added. 1. The aircraft they would have for such a resumption are Iran Air Boeing 747 types, and Iran Aseman Airbus A340 of the type that recently flew President Rouhani to New York.

Unless present U.S. sanctions are lifted, Iran Aseman likely carrier for such a route.

Iran Opens First Alcohol Rehab Center

Farid Barati, director of prevention services at Iran’s State Welfare Organization, introduced it as a “pilot permit” and added that it was temporary. But an argument over which organization is to hold the permit has obstructed the center’s kickoff. The conflict arose between two governmental organizations: the State Welfare Organization and Ministry of Health.
Having overcome the major obstacle of establishing a center with a focus on alcohol addiction is an important step. After many years, the silence on what was commonly known by many was broken by none other than the government itself. According to Barati, the issue is grave enough for the government to break its silence.
