In September 2013, Iran unveiled a version of Shahed 129 modified to carry weapons, making it a lethal UAV, so-called Unmanned Combat Aerial vehicle (UCAV). However, the video today does not show the aircraft carrying any weapon. In 2012, an Iranian Yasir UAV was also spotted over Damascus.

This could be a game changer if deployed in enough numbers...
ReplyDeleteUp until now everyone said Iran's UAVs were photoshoped hoax's. Also they say its based on an Israeili drone that was copied. Doesnt this imply that Iran has captured an Israeli drone? I mean you have to have something in your posession in order to clone it.
ReplyDeleteThat's the UAV some ridiculed last September for the prototype displayed to the media missing a couple of pieces of hardware at the front of the sensor dome, as well as mistakenly asserting there was no proof of Iranian UAVs being employed in Syria.
ReplyDeleteHate to say it but one such misinformed detraction occurred right here by another poster at Uskowi on Iran.
The Shahed-129 seen over Syria seems somewhat different with antenna on the top and an enlarged bulge
