So many Paki/Afghan looking soldiers! I wonder where they recruit these guys from.

Is that an observation or a racist comment? Have you not travelled around in Iran?
Been to Baluchestan? or Khuzestan?

nope they are just guys from "JUNUB" they speak farsi without Paki/Afghan dialect.

I know the Baluch have dark skin (my grandmother is Baluch), and I know Arabs too have dark skin in addition to other minority peoples in Iran (although Arabs are a bit finer than the Baluch), but am I to suppose that the bulk of the Iranian armed forces are from the ethnic minorities?

Most of my Iranian (Persian, Kurdish, Azeri) friends have fine skin, some have brown/blonde hair. I can never understand why the army is so different, even so in other countries, like Saudi Arabia, which has lots of black (negroid?) soldiers.

Just an observation my friend. It matters little whether an army is fine/white or brown, as long as it is a disciplined, well experienced army with a good leadership.

Anyone familiar with Iran recognize almost all shown in video speaking are Iranians.

You are a delusional racist of some weird kind. Most Iranians are Indo-European people just like Afghans, Pakistanis and many Indians. To the best of my limited knowledge there are no Nordic types in Iran, contrary to the Shah's 1970's amusing and ignorant propaganda. Infact, most of the bandari population in the south around the Persian Gulf coast is black and descendents of African traders. Time for you to visit Iran I guess and face reality, too much time in Tehrangeles and Tehranto? BTW, we also have large number of Arabs, Baluchis and even Mongol descendents, check out the Kuseh Rafsanjani!

Easy man! And you think I don't know that Iran has a multi-ethnic population? Why would that be a "terrible reality" for me to face? If anything it shows Iran to be the cosmopolis of the Middle East, not a bad thing at all.

But it's a fair observation that most of the people in the army look dark/fine dark, which is contrary to what one observes in Iran's main cities where the people are white/fine skinned. This makes wonder, is the bulk of the Iranian armed forces made up from people who's descendents are dark, for instant?

And no, I don't live in Toronto or Los Angeles.

Anon 7:31 PM........Hate to disappoint you but there are plenty of fair skinned "Nordic types" in Iran. I am one of them. So what's your point? And no,I don't come from "Tehrangeles and Tehranto" but Mazandaran. You can be Aryan/Iranian and have olive/white coloured skin. In case you forgot Iran means land of Aryans. That has nothing to do with "Shah's 1970's amusing and ignorant propaganda." Just go and look around in Iran and you will see plenty of evidence. Yes,we all know about the "Kuseh".

Great video, I am happy to see the Special Forces being so brave, well-trained and combat ready. Iran has a long and fine special forces tradition which includes green beret navy commandos and also red beret mountain commandos from the time before the revolution. Iran saw the value of these extremely capable units during the war and they have therefore decided to continuously invested in increasing the number. I only hope the quantity goal does not jeopardize the quality of the training as quality is very important when it comes to the special forces.

The reason behind your observation might easily be found in the unit's geographical position. An analysis of the ethnical ratio in any army unit is useless without some context... I don't speak farsi so couldn't catch any reference to a division or brigade.. and if their is none, you can take a look here http://thearkenstone.blogspot.ca/2011/03/uniform-insignia-and-patches-of-artesh.html and see if you can identify these soldiers' brigade or division.. Iguess if this is some "elite" unit as in 58th elite, my point is moot and your remarks might apply to the Artesh in a more general sense.
