Iranian Deputy
Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said today Tehran will hold bilateral talks with
other members of the P5+1 in the coming weeks. Iran and the U.S. held their
talks on Thursday.
“We are planning talks with other members of the P5+1
since we feel under the current conditions that a series of more detailed
bilateral talks are needed between us and other members of the P5+1 before the
start of the next round of the negotiations,” Araqchi said. (Fars News Agency,
9 August)
The next round of multilateral
negotiations with P5+1 is expected to be held on the sidelines of the UN
General Assembly, which will start on 16 September in New York
Araqchi said Thursday’s talks with the Americans in Geneva lasted for five hours and was meant to narrow the gap between their positions on the Iran’s nuclear program. He did not provide any details.
